KITKAT and motorsport partnerships: a guide to the official Formula 1® and KITKAT collaboration

Yes, KITKAT is the Official Chocolate Bar of Formula 1®. This unique collaboration allows KITKAT to inspire the F1® world to embrace the break.

What makes a motorsport chocolate collaboration “official”?

Motorsport branding can get busy. One minute you are watching the lights go out; the next, every cap, bottle and snack pack seems to be part of the grid. A chocolate collaboration is “official” when it is tied to recognised rights or partner status. A useful guide.

Type of tie-inWhat it usually meansWhat to check
Official category partnershipA brand has a named official role with a championship, event or rights-holderOfficial partner wording from the rights-holder or brand owner
Team sponsorshipA brand supports a team, driver or car liveryTeam announcements, sponsor pages or race assets
Retail promotionA product uses a short-term campaign around a race season or fan momentPack copy, retailer terms and brand campaign pages
Themed merchandiseA product looks racing-inspired but may not carry official rightsLicensing details, official product pages and partner wording

For a quick check, look for five signals:

1. Named official status — for example, an “Official Chocolate Bar” or similar category role.

2. Rights-holder or brand-owner confirmation — not just a social post or a shop listing.

3. A clear product or activation link — such as race-weekend activity, pack design or an F1® -inspired format.

4. Consistent wording — official collaborations tend to use precise names and marks.

5. A real product page or campaign page — useful if you want to separate a genuine release from a rumour doing laps. In our case, throughout 2026 we are bringing the KITKAT & F1® partnership to life across 12 global races, using 360° fan engagement to connect F1® fans. We are also accelerating innovation with exclusive F1® -inspired products, including the first-ever moulded chocolate F1® car and a marbled KITKAT Chunky designed to delight fans on and off the track.

How the Formula 1® and KITKAT partnership shows up for fans

A proper race weekend has a rhythm: practice, qualifying, race day, and someone asking if there are snacks before lap one. Our Formula 1® partnership turns that race-day moment into something more. When everything around you is running at 300 km/h, a break can be the most exciting thing on the track. That is the thinking behind our KITKAT fan zones. Inspired by our iconic “Have a Break” platform, these spaces offer fans a chance to slow down, recharge and enjoy a different kind of pit stop during race weekend. From interactive experiences and photo opportunities to moments of relaxation with a KITKAT in hand, the fan zones bring our brand purpose to life by creating a pause button in the middle of Formula 1®’s non-stop action.

What does KITKAT do beyond the race weekends?

Beyond the track, we have created a series of high-impact activations to bring the partnership to life in an ownable way for KITKAT and Formula 1®. These include a remarkable life-sized Formula 1® chocolate car, unveiled at Silverstone, as well as “The KITKAT Heist”, our real-time response after thieves stole more than 413,000 KITKAT bars in transit between Italy and Poland just before Easter. Rather than keep it quiet, we told the story openly and invited people to check their own bars through the Stolen KITKAT Tracker. The campaign won a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions, along with four Gold Lions and four Silver Lions. Together with our fan zones and exclusive innovations, these activations help transform our Formula 1® partnership into memorable experiences that give fans a chance to enjoy a break in the middle of racing’s fastest sport.

Did the partnership lead to actual chocolate products?

Yes. The Formula 1® collaboration led to F1® -inspired KITKAT chocolate products, including a Formula 1® car-shaped chocolate treat. KITKAT Icon Single 29g: a 29g milk chocolate treat with creamy filling and crispy inclusions, crafted in the shape of a Formula 1® car and inspired by the thrill of Formula 1® and the KITKAT break. That is a good example of an official motorsport chocolate collaboration becoming more than a badge. The theme runs right through the F1® range, from the special packaging across the line-up to a chocolate car figure shaped around Formula 1® itself. On the Chunky it goes a step further and carries into the bar.

® F1® Chunky Caramel flavour Milk Chocolate Bar: a 40g limited edition Chunky that brings together a crispy wafer finger, milk chocolate and a smooth caramel flavour twist. The caramel flavour coating is marbled using Nestlé’s own technology and takes its look from the speed of F1® cars, so the partnership shows up in the chocolate and not only on the pack.

FAQ

Have any motorsport events had official chocolate bar collaborations?

Yes. KITKAT is the Official Chocolate Bar of Formula 1®. The strongest source-backed example in this article is Formula 1® and KitKat®, because the collaboration is connected to named official status and F1®-inspired product formats.

Have any chocolate bars been released because of a motorsport partnership?

Yes. Our F1® Icon Car product is a 29g milk chocolate treat with creamy filling and crispy inclusions, crafted in the shape of a Formula 1® car and inspired by the thrill of Formula 1® and the KITKAT break. There is also a sharing-bag format featuring KITKAT F1® chocolate car figures with the same Formula 1® car-shaped idea.

How can I tell if a racing chocolate product is official?

Start by checking whether the brand or rights-holder uses precise official wording. Then look for a product page, partner announcement, campaign page or race activation that supports the same claim. A racing colour scheme alone is not enough. Official status usually comes with more exact language, such as a named category partner role.

Does official status mean Formula 1® designed the chocolate?

No. Official partner status should not be stretched into a recipe or product-development claim unless a source says that directly. For our F1® Icon Car products, the supported facts are about official status, product format and ingredients such as milk chocolate, creamy filling and crispy inclusions.

Are motorsport chocolate collaborations common?

It is safer not to call them common without stronger evidence across motorsport. The clearest example covered here is Formula 1® and KITKAT. If you see another racing chocolate launch, use the same checks: official status, source confirmation, product format and clear rights-holder or brand-owner wording.

The takeaway for race-day chocolate collaborations

Official motorsport chocolate collaborations are best judged by four things: named official status, clear source support, race or fan relevance, and a product format that actually reflects the partnership. For Formula 1® and KITKATt®, the answer is a clear yes: we are connected to Formula 1® through official chocolate bar status, and the partnership appears in F1® -inspired chocolate car products. So if the race is on and the kettle has just clicked, you know what to look for: official wording, a real product, and a proper break before lights out.
