EXERCISE 1: SHAPE PUZZLE
How many triangles do you see?
Put your skills to the test with this deceptive shape puzzle. And yes, the biggest triangle counts!
Is the answer A:9 or B:18?
EXERCISE 2: PATTERN RECOGNITION
Look at the triangles on the left.
There are 3 numbers around the outside of each triangle that have been used to get to the number in the centre. Using your pattern recognition skills, decide which number should go in the centre of the 4th triangle.
Is the answer A:8 or B:9 ?
EXERCISE 3: MENTAL ROTATION
Imagine an arrow in your mind, pointing to the right. Now rotate that arrow so it faces left. You’ve just performed a mental rotation, a key feature in reading maps, playing chess or even rearranging your living room.
Decide which of the numbers on the left are normal or reversed, using the below as an example. And no rotating your screen!
Warning! Answers ahead, stop scrolling if you’re not ready yet.
1 = B:18
2 = A:8 (Take the top number of each triangle and subtract the bottom left number. Then, multiply it by the bottom right number.)
3 = From left to right: normal, reversed, reversed, reversed, normal, reversed, normal, reversed, normal.
